As we woke up, the sun was shining and we had good conditions for our first trip to Aksaray.
So, the day has started with the meeting of paired groups (one Berliner, one Istanbuler). The whole idea was to get a first impression of Aksaray (more for the Berliners). Like Max said yesterday, it's about getting a feeling for the place, the crowd and the shops, which will help us formulate our research questions for the following days.
Additionally, the Berliners did already have impressions, thoughts and maybe even experiences from Sonnenallee, so they could make a comparison between the two fields.
We've just started to have a walk in the main street (Turgut Özal Caddesi). So, we got quickly into conversations with our partners.

After that, we met with two other groups and went with the ferry to Kadiköy. Still amazing just to think about the daily routine of locals which can use the ferry everyday. It's just a way for public transport, in-between of Asia and Europe where you can clear your mind in the sea air.

Our next stop: two interesting presentations of Ibrahim Dizman (Sultanbeyli Municipality, Association for refugees) and Souzan Hajmohammad (Building Markets). Again, thanks for sharing your own experiences and insider knowledge!

It was a really long day, we had a whole time full of input, fruitful discussions about similarities and differences of Aksaray and Neukölln. While we could talk about our impressions, thanks Ula and Tolga we also had some delicious snacks and a comfortable area.

We've spent nearly six or seven hours in Cafe Pepuk. As we walked in, we had daylight. In the end, we walked out straight into the nightlife of Kadiköy.

But all in all, I think everybody will agree with me, the cats in the cupboard were one of the most interesting things in Cafe Pepuk! Four newborn cats and cuddle time for everyone!
